Magellan Spring 2010 Map Upgrade V399

  1. 2010 Calendar

2010 Following TomTom and Garmin, Magellan is now offering new GPS models that include map updates. A few different flavors are available, for example the RoadMate 3045-LM offers lifetime map updates included while the RoadMate 3045-MU offers a single free map update. The “rules” for the single map update go like this: Map update program entitles you to receive one (1) free map data update during the life of the GPS receiver or until Magellan no longer receives relevant map data. Internet connection and Content Manager required. The lifetime map update rules go like this: Lifetime Maps entitles you to receive up to four (4) map updates per year, for the life of the GPS receiver or until Magellan no longer receives relevant map data.

Are the maps that come with the magellan explorist 500le good quality. Are the maps just for the usa or are they worldwide? Fujitsu siemens lifebook t4010d drivers windows 7. I live in Canada. Please Reply -Patrick M (P1623) In a nutshell, No, the base map is barely adequate and out of date to boot. I bought mine in a bundle with Topo USA. (Detail maps CD) 2 and half years ago. Most have to get this separately.

Mar 18, 2017  English Forums - Hardware Magellan Roadmate. OK, I downloaded the 2010 spring map upgrade v39 from a torrent site. Magellan's datafiles are serial. I went to the website last Thursday and it didn't have pricing posted yet, so then I called Magellan's phone support to check it out.

Since you are in Canada, you will likely have to go to Magellan's web site store to find out how to get Canada's version of Topo USA. The basemap will include all of North America.

Magellan does not seem interested in Updating their maps for their obsolete models either. The last update was in 2007. Edited January 19, 2010 by wyleone. This unit is not very user friendly. Their printed manual is very sparse.

I am using Mapsend Lite and the Help they have with it is for non-Lite version. Very frustrating. I just bought this unit on sale at CT for $119. Seemed like a good deal until I got it home and realized the included maps are useless (I live in the Vancouver area). I then had to pay an extra $49 to download my region's topo map. I thought I might have to spring $149 for the North America street maps too, but the topo maps include streets too. It also includes POI as well so that is handy.

I got the maps loaded last night and tonight I will begin the process of figuring out how to create a pocket query and getting that loaded onto the eXplorist. My iPhone app is MUCH easier to use, but the GPS sucks the battery life out of the phone like crazy. After about three hours of use on Saturday, my iPhone had only about 1/4 of the battery energy left. My plan is to use my iPhone in conjunction with the eXplorist.

Actually the eXplorist500 is a pretty good unit that is user friendly. It just takes a bit of getting used to. A few things though; No the basemaps for Canada are horrible. I paid the $100 or so to unlock the TOPO Canada maps that came on the disc with the GPS.

Those maps were worth it. They are easy to load on to the unit too. Just create a region and upload it to the GPS. Another suggestion is if you haven't already, get an SD card. I have a 2GB card in mine which is a bit of overkill but I don't ever worry about running out of memory space. If you don't want to spend the money for the TOPO maps, then check out they have free Canadian TOPO maps for explorists and Tritons. They are better than the basemap that is preloaded.

@The Fish Man for loading PQs on to the explorist definitely check out GSAK. It will make your life so much easier. Hope that helps.

You can use MapSend Lite 2.00. It's free to download from the Magellan site. Connect the GPS and put it in the file transfer-SD card mode or use an SD card drive. Open MapSend. Ctrl-M gets you the Map Manager. The third button from the left ('Add Background Map from GPS') will transfer the maps to the computer.

You should be able to Zoom Out to see what the maps cover. My 500 is under about 8' of snow in the car, so I haven't tested this. MapSend does a decent job on geocaches and waypoints.

The 500 is an oldie but a goodie. Just get in there and start mashing buttons. You can use MapSend Lite 2.00. It's free to download from the Magellan site. Connect the GPS and put it in the file transfer-SD card mode or use an SD card drive. Open MapSend. Ctrl-M gets you the Map Manager.
